Weak Password List 2025: Every year, cyber experts warn that weak passwords are the easiest route to hacking, but even in 2025, millions of people are still making the same mistakes. According to a new report from Comparitech, the world's most commonly used password this year remains 123456. The company analyzed over 2 billion passwords leaked from actual data breaches in 2025, and the results are shocking.

The report revealed that these were the most common passwords across millions of accounts.

- Admin
- 1234

- Password

Most of these passwords are so weak that it wouldn't take a hacker more than a few seconds to crack them.
Numbers and common words are the biggest weaknesses.
A Comparitech report found that nearly 25% of the top 1,000 passwords are made up of numbers alone, while 38.6% include sequences like 123. Users who showed some creativity used words like password, admin, qwerty, and welcome, but these are also highly vulnerable from a cybersecurity perspective. Even the name of a game like Minecraft was among the 100 most used passwords. Meanwhile, Indian users made India@123 so popular that it reached the #53 rank.
What length of password is safe?
Cyber experts recommend that any password should be at least 12 characters long. This makes it much more difficult to crack. However, the report revealed that 65.8% of passwords were shorter than 12 characters, meaning most users are still putting their own security at risk. Therefore, it's important to always keep a few small things in mind when creating a password to ensure the safety of your account.
