BTS V's Dog Yeontan Named Billboard's Most Beloved Pet

Send Push

Even though BTS’s V, aka Kim Taehyung, bid a heartbreaking farewell to his beloved pet dog Yeontan, aka Tannie, last year, the little pup is still getting so much love from fans around the world.

In the U.S., April 11 is celebrated as National Pet Day to show how much our furry (and not-so-furry) friends mean to us. To mark the occasion, Billboard held a fun global poll asking fans to vote for their favorite celebrity pets. They pointed out how some pets are basically celebrities themselves—showing up in music videos, photoshoots, and even ads. The list included pets owned by stars like Taylor Swift, Ariana Grande, and of course, BTS’s V. And guess who is the favorite celebrity pet? It's none other than ARMY's beloved Yeontan!

Yeontan crowned 'Most Beloved Pet in the World'

Yeontan didn’t just win the poll. He absolutely dominated the vote, taking 94.56% of it. According to Billboard, Yeontan, who passed away in December 2024, had always held a special place in the hearts of ARMY. He wasn’t just a pet—fans often lovingly called him BTS’s “8th member.”

Fans celebrate Yeontan's victory

ARMYs everywhere are celebrating Yeontan’s sweet and emotional victory after he was named the most beloved celebrity pet in Billboard’s National Pet Day poll.

One fan wrote, "CONGRATULATIONS to Tannie, well-deserved; may He RIP. I know this would make Taehyung (V) proud of his beloved baby boy pup Yeontan, aka little Tannie. RIP, baby Tannie. Keep an eye on your Daddy Taehyung and keep him safe. In the military, our sweet Angel pup is RIP in Heaven."

Another wrote, "Baby Tannie deserves only LOVE, ONLY LOVE. Rest in peace, Baby."

A third lovingly mentioned, "You are so loved and missed, sweet puppy Yeontan. You will never be forgotten. You are in our hearts forever."

"Tannie, you’ll always be famous," one fan added.

BTS' V's bond with Yeontan

Taehyung's bond with Yeontan was something truly special. The singer paid special tribute to Tannie in his maiden solo album, Layover, featuring a picture of him on the cover.

In another sweet moment, Yeontan accompanied V during his Slow Dancing performance on Mnet. Even on the fan platform Weverse, V’s profile photo is of Yeontan, and he’s listed as his official pet in V’s online bios.

Back on December 2, V shared several photos of Yeontan on Instagram and broke the sad news of his passing away: “Recently, Yeontan went on a long journey to the dog star. If you could think of him from time to time, I’d be really grateful—so he can be happy up there too.”

After his death, Yeontan also made a sweet cameo in the animated music video for White Christmas, V’s collaboration with Bing Crosby.
