Dehradun (Uttarakhand) [India], November 9 (ANI): Uttarakhand Chief Minister Pushkar Singh Dhami on Sunday extended greetings to the people of the state on the occasion of its Silver Jubilee and urged citizens to work together towards building a strong and self-reliant Uttarakhand.
Addressing the public, CM Dhami said, "Dear People of the State, heartfelt greetings to you all on the Silver Jubilee of Uttarakhand's Statehood. Nurtured by the dedication, sacrifice and tireless struggle of our statehood movement leaders, Devbhoomi Uttarakhand today is progressing towards holistic development under the guidance of Prime Minister Narendra Modi. On this occasion, let us reaffirm our unwavering resolve to build a strong, prosperous and self-reliant Uttarakhand."
Earlier, Dhami paid homage to the immortal martyrs of the statehood movement, the state agitators, and the brave soldiers who laid down their lives for the nation. The Chief Minister also remembered former Prime Minister and Bharat Ratna Atal Bihari Vajpayee, acknowledging his pivotal role in laying the strong foundation of the state and saluting him on behalf of the people of Uttarakhand.
In his message, the Chief Minister said that in the 25 years since the formation of the state, Uttarakhand has achieved historic progress in areas such as economy, infrastructure development, social harmony and cultural preservation.
"In these 25 years, the size of the state's economy has increased 26 times, per capita income has grown 18 times, and the state budget has expanded more than 20 times," Dhami said.
He added that Uttarakhand has made historic progress in sectors such as the economy, infrastructure development, social harmony, and cultural preservation.
The Chief Minister further noted that Uttarakhand has reinforced its unique identity by becoming the first state to implement a Uniform Civil Code (UCC).
"The active participation of women, youth, statehood activists, ex-servicemen and the global Uttarakhand community is paving the way for building a strong and self-reliant Uttarakhand," he said.
The Silver Jubilee celebrations will see the participation of Prime Minister Narendra Modi and CM Dhami at the main event being held at the Forest Research Institute (FRI) in Dehradun. The occasion is expected to witness a host of programmes commemorating the journey of the state since its formation and honouring those who contributed to its growth and development. (ANI)
