Instant fame after film's success, marriage proposals and loneliness. But actress found real love unexpectedly

Amrita Rao recently made her comeback with Jolly LLB 3, co-starring Akshay Kumar and Arshad Warsi. The courtroom drama, which hit theatres on September 19, 2025, has been receiving positive responses from both critics and audiences. But while fans are excited to see her back on the big screen, Amrita took a moment to look back on a very different phase of her life, one that followed the massive success of Vivah (2006), where she starred opposite Shahid Kapoor.

In a recent interview, Amrita shared some surprising and, at times, unsettling experiences from that era. While Vivah made her a household name, she revealed that soon after the film's release, she began receiving marriage proposals from NRIs, many of whom sent family photographs along with elaborate requests to marry her. Some even included pictures with their pets and homes, treating the proposal like a resume.


One instance, however, took a darker turn. Amrita told in a chat with Ranveer Allahbadia that she also received a letter written in blood, which left her and her family deeply disturbed. There was also a persistent fan who would wait by a telephone booth near her house, attempting to get in touch. The attention crossed personal boundaries and became a cause for concern.

Despite being at the peak of her career and enjoying widespread popularity, Amrita admitted that she felt creatively unfulfilled during that time. She found herself stuck in a loop of similar roles and was repeatedly offered films with conditions she wasn’t comfortable accepting, such as mandatory "kissing scenes" or glamour-centric parts. These compromises didn’t align with her values or artistic vision, leading her to turn down many offers.

This professional frustration also affected her social life. Amrita distanced herself from the usual film industry gatherings, no parties, no award shows, no red carpets. She said she preferred to do her work quietly and return home, away from the noise and expectations of stardom. It was during this lonely space and emotionally turbulent phase that she met RJ Anmol, who would later become her husband.



The two connected deeply, and their relationship provided Amrita with much-needed emotional stability. After dating for seven years, they tied the knot in a private ceremony on May 15, 2016. The couple later welcomed their son, Veer, in 2020.

Now, years later, Amrita Rao has returned to cinema with Jolly LLB 3, where she reprises her role as Sandhya, the supportive wife of Arshad Warsi’s character. Her comeback has been met with excitement, especially among fans who admired her earlier performances and had long awaited her return.
