IPL 2025: Royal Challengers Bengaluru create new unwanted record with defeat against PBKS

Send Push
Royal Challenger's Bengaluru's abysmal home run continued as they went down to Punjab Kings at the Chinnaswamy Stadium in a rain-curtailed match on Friday.

The match, reduced to 14 overs, saw RCB bat first and score just 95/9 in the allotted overs. The team was recued by Tim David who counter-attacked to score 50 not out off 26 balls.

Punjab’s bowlers put up a disciplined show, keeping the scoring in check and picking up regular wickets.

In reply, PBKS looked in control from the beginning. Nehal Wadhera anchored the chase with 33 off 19 balls, ensuring his side crossed the finish line comfortably in 12.1 overs. Despite Josh Hazlewood’s excellent spell of 3/14 for RCB, the home side had too little on the board to defend.

This was RCB's third successive defeat at home this season, and now have 46 losses at the Chinnaswamy Stadium, the most by any team at a single ground in IPL history. They overtook Delhi Capitals, who have lost 45 matches at the Arun Jaitley Stadium in Delhi.

Kolkata Knight Riders (38 at Eden Gardens), Mumbai Indians (34 at Wankhede), and Punjab Kings (30 at Mohali) follow on the list.
