Negative Energy Home Idols: In Sanatan Dharma, the tradition of worshipping God in the form of idols or pictures is very old. Most people build temples in their homes, install idols or pictures of deities, and perform regular pujas. This maintains positive energy in the home and brings mental peace. However, according to religious texts and Vastu Shastra, it is not appropriate to keep all types of idols or pictures in the home temple. Certain idols or their positions are considered inauspicious, causing distress, unrest, and misfortune in the home.

These issues are also detailed in Vastu Shastra, as well as religious texts like Garuda Purana, Agni Purana, and Narada Samhita. For example, Chapter 43 of the Agni Purana clearly states that broken or damaged idols should not be kept in the home, as they attract misfortune and negative energy. If an idol cracks or a deity's photo is torn, it should be immediately immersed in a holy river. Additionally, certain types of idols are considered prohibited from being installed in the home temple.
Fierce Idol of Mahakali
It is not considered appropriate to place an idol of the fierce form of Goddess Kali in the home temple. This form is considered extremely powerful and associated with Tantric practices. Such idols can impact the peaceful atmosphere of the home. According to Vastu and scriptures, only the gentle and calm form of the Goddess should be installed in the home to maintain positive energy.
Idol of Kaal Bhairav
Kaal Bhairav is considered the fierce form of Lord Shiva, worshipped with special mantras and rituals. Keeping his idol in the home without proper worship can have negative effects. Similarly, Lord Shiva's Nataraja form, depicted in the Tandava posture, is also considered inauspicious, as it symbolizes fierce energy.
Idol of Shani Dev
Shani Dev is a just person, but his gaze is considered cruel. Therefore, an idol of Shani Dev should not be placed in the home temple. It is believed that their direct gaze on family members can lead to difficulties and obstacles in life.
South-Facing Idols
South-facing idols of Hanuman and Ganesha should not be kept in the home. The south direction is considered the direction of Yama and is not considered conducive to the gentle nature of gods and goddesses. According to the Skanda Purana, an idol of Hanuman, especially one in an angry posture, is considered inauspicious for the home.

Separate Idols of Radha and Krishna
Separate idols of Radha and Krishna should not be kept in the home temple. Their symbolism of love and unity is effective only when they are together. Keeping their idols separate can increase tension, discord, and disagreements in the home. This is also mentioned in the Narada Samhita and other religious texts.
