Ujjain (Madhya Pradesh): The Central Kotwali police has arrested a women’s gym operator, Nandini Joshi in a cheating case. Nandini Joshi and Tanuja Goyal, her partner, are accused of allegedly cheating a woman of Rs 70 lakh by luring her with high profits in property investment.
TI DBS Tomar said that Mamta Jain, wife of Saubhagya Jain, from Gayatri Nagar near Bafna Park had lodged a complaint in the matter. Based on the complaint, the police had registered a case against six people: Nandini, Tanuja, the main accused, her husband Rajiv Goyal, brother-in-law Ravindar Goyal, sister-in-law Sweety Goyal, and father-in-law Krishna Goyal under Section 420, 406, 120-B and 34 of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita. Out of these Krishna was arrested but later released on bail.
In her complaint, Mamta alleged that Nandini and Tanuja left her in a bad state. Together, they cheated her of Rs 70 lakh, of which Nandini pocketed Rs 15 lakh. There was also about 17 tola gold jewellery, which was allegedly given to Tanuja. When she asked Tanuja for the jewellery, she took the name of one Ritu Jain.
When Ritu was accosted, she allegedly demanded money for returning the jewellery. Mamta claimed that both Tanuja and Nandini have connections with politicians. She alleged that the two women enticed her so much that she didn’t realise, till late, that she was being cheated. She even mortgaged her house, she said.
