Indore (Madhya Pradesh): Chief Minister’s Learn and Earn Scheme has opened up new opportunities for young people in Madhya Pradesh, with the West Zone Electricity Distribution Company successfully implementing the programme as per state government directives.
Under the scheme, the company trained 633 youths over the past year, providing them with stipends as per government norms while enhancing their technical and professional skills. Trainees included candidates from diverse fields such as ITI, electricians, linemen, stenographers, graduates, diploma holders in electrical and civil engineering, HR, accounts and security services.
Following their training, the company has now offered 146 youths employment on an outsourced basis within its operational areas. Manoj Jovan, who now works as a computer operator in the IT department, shared his experience: ‘The Learn and Earn scheme gave me both financial support and professional exposure. Today, I manage documents and computer operations in the IT branch.
I am grateful for the opportunity and my new job has given me confidence and income stability.’ Officials said the scheme is not only helping young people gain employment but is also creating a skilled workforce to meet the state’s growing industrial and service needs.

Thousands of economically weaker families in the Sanwer constituency of Indore district have received crucial medical support under the Chief Minister’s Critical Illness Assistance Scheme. ‘Since January 2019, a total of 3,054 beneficiaries have been provided financial aid amounting to Rs 16.52 crore for the treatment of serious illnesses,’ water resources minister and local MLA Tulsiram Silawat said.
For rural families, the high cost of medical treatment often poses a heavy burden. The scheme has emerged as a lifeline, ensuring that patients not only gain access to better healthcare but their families also receive much-needed financial relief and confidence. Silawat emphasised the importance of the initiative, saying: ‘When a poor family faces the crisis of a serious illness, this scheme becomes their greatest support. The government stands firmly with every person in need.’
