Mumbai Crime: 33-Year-Old Man Arrested For Raping 17-Year-old Girl After Breaking Into Her House In Vikhroli

Mumbai: A man was arrested for raping a 17-year-old girl after breaking into her home through a window on Friday. The Vikhroli Parksite police station identified the accused as 33-year-old Sameer Shaikh.

The official stated, "He was held based on technical inputs and CCTV footage. Shaikh has been charged with rape and other offences under the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita and Protection of Children from Sexual Offences (POCSO) Act," according to media agency PTI report.

According to Mumbai Police, the accused broke into the minor girl’s home through a window and assaulted her. After the attack, he threatened the victim before fleeing the scene. The girl initially stayed silent out of fear. However, her family noticed changes in her behaviour and questioned her, leading her to disclose the incident.

Subsequently, the family approached the nearest police station to file a complaint. The Parksite police promptly registered a case against the accused under sections 64(2)(D) and 351(2) of the Indian Penal Code, along with the Protection of Children from Sexual Offences (POCSO) Act, according to an ABP News report.

Police used CCTV footage and other technical evidence to locate and arrest Shaikh in the Vikhroli area. Authorities confirmed that the investigation is ongoing, including checking the accused’s prior records.

Mother And Teen Lover Arrested For Rape And Murder Of 2-Year-Old Daughter 

In another incident a 30-year-old woman and her 19-year-old lover have been arrested for allegedly raping and murdering the woman's two-and-a-half-year-old daughter. According to the police, the crime occurred on Sunday between 2 PM and 3 PM.

The woman's husband abandoned her three years ago while she was pregnant, leaving her to live alone. Two years later, she gave birth to a daughter. A few months ago, she began a relationship with the teenage suspect.

Police reports indicate that the teenager expressed a desire to engage in a physical relationship with the toddler, and the mother reportedly allowed it. The police have charged both individuals with gang rape and have booked them under the POCSO (Protection of Children from Sexual Offences) Act.
