Kolkata: Three people from West Bengal killed in Pahalgam terror attack. Bodies of Bitan Adhikary, a resident of Patuli near Kolkata and Samir Guha, resident of Behal returned to Kolkata on Wednesday evening.
Leader of Opposition Suvendu Adhikari and Trinamool Congress (TMC) Minister Aroop Biswas were seen at the airport where the bodies were kept for paying last respect.
Sohini Adhikary, wife of deceased Bitan Adhikary said that the terrorists after verifying that they are Hindus have killed her husband.
“After they saw sindoor on my forehead they attacked us. We were walking when suddenly we heard gunshots. We saw people being shot and tried to flee the spot. Suddenly a person dressed in a Pathani suit came and inquired about our religion and then asked us to recite Kalma. They had only targeted men,” said Sohini.
Sabari Guha, wife of deceased Samir Guha, said, “We were taking photos from a local photographer and were checking them when we heard the sound of firing. The local photographer told us to sit down on the floor. Then abruptly some unknown miscreants started firing when my husband died.”
A neighbour of Samir informed that Samir’s daughter mentioned that the miscreants said ‘Modi ka Aadmi hain’ before firing.
Another deceased person Manish Ranjan Misra, an Excise Inspector and a resident of Purulia’s Jhalda was also killed after it was confirmed that he was a Hindu.
Notably, TMC minister Aroop Biswas earlier this day had also visited the residence of Bitan Adhikari and said that he used to stay in the United States of America and had come to India on a vacation.
Kum Kum Mondal, a resident of Arambagh said her husband along with 21 others have visited Kashmir for vacation and are stuck.
“We all are very worried after what has happened. Hope all of them return safely to West Bengal,” mentioned Kum Kum.
