Indore (Madhya Pradesh): The much-awaited Indore Metro is set to hit the city’s lanes from May 31 - the 300th birth anniversary of Devi Ahilyabai Holkar.
With this, India’s cleanest city, Indore, will officially become a ‘Metro City’.

Prime Minister Narendra Modi will be inaugurating the metro virtually from Bhopal during his visit to Madhya Pradesh on the same day.
Additionally, the metro rides the first 7 days are going to be free for the citizens. Later on, discounted fares will be offered.

The announcement was made by Urban Development Minister Kailash Vijayvargiya during a press briefing held on Wednesday.
Vijayvargiya said, “We want women from all walks of life—from Swachhata Didis to IT professionals from companies like TCS—to participate in this inaugural ride,” said.

All you need to know about the metro
Stretch: The first phase of the Indore Metro will operate on a 6-kilometer priority stretch between Gandhinagar and Super Corridor Station-3, marking the city's entry into the era of high-capacity public transit.
Duration: The Priority Corridor is part of the Yellow Line, which spans 5.9 kilometers and includes 5 stations. During the commercial run, the metro is expected to reach each station in just 2 to 5 minutes.
Stations: According to the Metro Rail Corporation, the Indore Metro will operate on the Priority Corridor between Gandhi Nagar Station and Station Number 3 on the Super Corridor.

Trips: During the initial phase, metro trains will make 25 trips in both directions, totaling 50 trips a day. The metro will start running from both the ends, i.e. Gandhi Nagar and Station No. 3, simultaneously at 8 am. The last trip will be at 8 pm.
Frequency: During the commercial run, a metro coach set will operate every 30 minutes. This frequency may be increased or decreased based on the number of passengers.
