Rajasthan News: The people of Bikaner are going to get a big gift soon. The construction of Kabir Vatika Park is going to start in an area of 100 bighas (about 22 hectares) in Joyad Paytan area of Ridmalsar. This park, to be built at a cost of Rs 40 crore, will be the largest picnic spot in western Rajasthan, which will have greenery, water park, water bodies, herbal garden, food zone, and entertainment facilities for children and the elderly.

What will be the specialty of the park

Kabir Vatika Park will be designed on the lines of City Park in Jaipur, Oxygen Park in Kota and Nagar Van in Ahmedabad. It will have water body, botanical garden, bird watching area, jogging track, open gym, kids zone and separate zones for senior citizens. Keeping the environment in mind, attractive facilities like food zone, cafe, city market and amphitheater will also be built for local, national and international tourists. Kabir's ideology will be included as a theme in the park, which will showcase the culture of Bikaner.

Work started after removing encroachment

The area of Ridmalsar where the park is being built, land mafias had occupied it and started cutting plots by installing pillars. After complaints from local people, BDA, Revenue Department and Gram Panchayat took joint action and removed the encroachment and freed the land. After this, the work of boundary wall and fencing has been completed.

Reconstruction of dilapidated structures of the princely era

An open theater has been built in Devikund Sagar area near the park, where drama and cultural programs will be held. The work of repairing the pond, rebuilding the dilapidated structures of the princely era and beautification has also started. This area offers a panoramic view due to its location at a height.

DPR and construction progress

The BDA had issued a tender for preparing the DPR (Detailed Project Report), which opened on April 3. The technical bid was opened on April 4 and now the selected firm will have to submit the DPR within 50 days. After this, the tender for construction will be issued. The state government had approved this project in the budget of 2025-26. BDA Commissioner Aparna Gupta said that the construction of the park will be done in different phases and the effort is to complete the work of the first phase in a year.

Vision of the administration

District Collector and BDA President Namrata Vrishni said, "Kabir Vatika Park is being developed as a picnic spot. The historical pond of Devikund Sagar, Shiva temple and chhatris make it more attractive. Based on the theme of Kabir, this park will be a great place for families." Meanwhile, Commissioner Aparna Gupta said that this park, being built at a cost of Rs 40 crore, will be completed in a phased manner.
