Once again, a big accident happened due to Google Maps. On Friday midnight in Belapur area of Navi Mumbai, a woman's car fell straight into the bay. The woman was driving relying on Google Maps. Fortunately, the marine security police present there showed alertness and the woman's life was saved. Later, the car was pulled out of the bay with the help of a crane. The incident happened around 1 am on Friday night when the woman was travelling in her car towards Ulwe. Instead of going through the Bay Bridge in Belapur, she took the path under the bridge because that was the straight route on Google Maps. As a result, her car fell straight into the bay from the Dhruvtara Jetty.

 

This incident came to the notice of the marine security police stationed nearby and they immediately reached the spot. The policemen saw that the woman was floating in the water. After this, with the help of rescue boat and patrol team, the woman was taken out safely.

 

When the car got stuck from the flyover in Maharajganj

In Maharajganj district of Uttar Pradesh, Google Maps took a car to the top of an incomplete flyover, due to which the car hung from the flyover. The incident is of 9 June 2025. This accident happened in the Farenda police station area, allegedly due to moving ahead on the path shown by Google Maps. The car hung from the bottom after going over the flyover. However, all the people in the car survived safely in this accident. It happened on an under-construction flyover in Bhaiya Farenda on the Gorakhpur-Sonauli National Highway of the district, where the car climbed onto the flyover, but the work of the flyover was incomplete.

On 4th April 2025, in Moradabad, UP, four people travelling in a car met with an accident while trying to find directions with the help of Google Maps. Two girls died in this incident while two others were seriously injured. People were returning from Nainital by car in Moradabad's Thana Mudhapande area. According to the police, when this car met with an accident, the car got locked from inside and the people who were inside remained trapped inside. This accident happened because there were no diversion signs or information about road blocking on the under-construction highway.
