House of Guinness is on Netflix and the historical drama was inspired by thetrue story of the Guinness siblings as they continued their father's legacy.
The drama pays particular attention toEdward Guinness (played by Louis Partridge), and his friendship with cousin Adelaide (Ann Skelly).
While Edward was keen to marry Adelaide, she did not reciprocate the same feelings, but their story played out differently in real life.
Edward Cecil Guinness, 1st Earl of Iveagh, was in fact married to his third cousin Adelaide Maria Guinness, and they tied the knot in 1873.
She was descended from the banking line of the Guinness family and was the daughter of barrister and MP, Richard Guinness.

Adelaide was nicknamed Dodo, and although it was an affectionate family name, there is no explanation for why it was used.
Adelaide and Edward went on to have three sons - Rupert Edward Cecil Lee Guinness, Arthur Ernest Guinness and Walter Edward Guinness.
Their marriage helped concentrate family wealth and maintain tight control of the brewery before it became a public company.
In The Guinnesses: The Untold Story of Ireland's Most Successful Family, author Joe Joyce describes Adelaide as "petite, with dark hair drawn neatly back, soft-spoken but is equal in energy and vitality and three years older than [Edward] was".

Adelaide was one of eight children, with her siblings including Colonel Charles Guinness, Sir Reginald R. B. Guinness and Claude H. C. Guinness, who was the managing director of Guinness from 1886 until 1895.
She became Baroness Iveagh of Iveagh in 1891 and in 1905 she took the title Viscountess of Iveagh.
Adelaide died in 1916 at the age of 72 - 11 years before her husband Edward, who died in 1927.
Netflix described Adelaide in House of Guinness as "a smart and assertive young woman who speaks her mind with intimidating precision".
They added: "A Guinness cousin, she has little patience for the shallow mating rituals of her class and even less interest in most of the unengaging men in her world."
