Big Brother chaos as live eviction postponed due to Storm Amy safety fears

Send Push

Big Brother won't be airing its live eviction in its usual slot tonight due to safety concerns over Storm Amy.

Fans of the ITV2 reality show will need to wait until Big Brother: Late & Live to find out which star is the first to leave the Big Brother house after Storm Amy made filming outdoors untenable. "The eviction will instead take place during Late & Live," a source told The Mirror. "It was strictly due to safety over the weather conditions."

While live evictions typically see contestants leave through the front door during a live broadcast, the first star to be evicted will be leaving via Late & Live due to the storm. This means that the evictee won't be met by a crowd or presenters AJ Odudu and Will Best.

This marks the first time that the outside set has been scrapped last minute during the show's time on ITV. The Met Office issued three amber weather warnings for wind earlier today as Storm Amy heads over the UK.

The storm is forecasted to bring 100mph winds and heavy downpours across Britain from Friday afternoon until Saturday. Met Office Chief Forecaster Neil Armstrong said: “Storm Amy will be an impactful autumn storm for many in Scotland and Northern Ireland, though impacts will also spread to northwest England and Wales, as well as a more widespread windy period for the rest of the UK."

“Within the amber warning areas, damaging gusts of around 100mph are possible for a time on Friday evening for parts of western Scotland, especially Skye, Tiree, Barra and western Lochaber." He added that the storm could cause significant disruption - from power cuts to damage to buildings and trees.

Earlier this week, Big Brother announced a huge change to the way voting would work for this series - with the public voting to save housemates instead of voting to evict. Revealing the change on Late and Live on Tuesday, host Will said: "You may have heard this series the game is changing.

"Ahead of the first live eviction of the series, I can now exclusively reveal that in a break from long-standing Big Brother tradition that you the viewers will not be voting to evict. You will be voting to save. The fans asked for it - we have delivered. Big Brother was listening."

Big Brother airs tonight at 9pm on ITV2 and ITVX.
