'I spent £1,400 on iPhone from Amazon - I was left sickened by what arrived'

A mum who was excited to open her brand new iPhonewas given the shock of her life - claiming the box was instead full of "poop".

Rebecca Oman splashed the cash when she bought a £1,399 iPhone 16 Pro 1TB from Amazon and, as expected, could not wait for it to turn up at her door. Although, when it arrived the next day at her home in the Scottish Highlands, she opened up the delivery and claims to have discovered a foul-looking mixture instead of the tech she ordered.

It appeared to be a mixture of mud, sand and even what looked like faeces, leaving her in tears as she desperately tried to figure out what had gone wrong. She told NeedToKnow: “I was shocked, and I actually cried. I don't know what I received in the box."

She continued to explain: "Unfortunately, some people say it looks like poop. It's like mud, sand or gravel.

"My son said, 'Aww, let's see – is it that good?' I said, 'Unfortunately not, son. They’re not happy tears.” Rebecca immediately contacted Amazon by phone and live chat, although what she was told was that she would be required to file apolice report before they could take her claims any further.

The retail company allegedly suggested that her order could have potentially come from a third-party seller – despite the fact that Rebecca insists that she had purchased the phone directly from the official Apple Store page on the Amazon website.

The mortified mum said: “I’ve had two phone calls with the police; they say to keep on at Amazon to get a refund, as it's their responsibility to refund me or make sure I have the product. But in the meantime, they are investigating it, which is so sad because there are so many more important things to deal with.”

The self-employed businesswoman claims that this is the first time she's faced problems with Amazon before, but the bizarre delivery has left her feeling shaken up and confused. She added: “There’s been no indication at all if I will ever even get my money back.

“I’ve never had problems with Amazon before now. I feel stressed every single day about it. I'm pregnant, so it's not the best time to be feeling stressed.”

Luckily, after a stressful time waiting for a solution, the shopping platform have confirmed that they will refund Rebecca in full. An Amazon UK spokesperson stated: “We work hard to build a great shopping experience, and that includes a seamless, customer-friendly delivery and returns policy.

“Even though customer satisfaction is our utmost priority, we recognise that we’re not perfect, and we are sorry for the inconvenience.

"We have thoroughly reviewed this case, and we have refunded the customer, as well as offered additional gestures of goodwill."
