Reality TV icon Kim Kardashian has found herself at the centre of a political row after publicly condemning President Donald Trump ’s ICE raids.
The 44-year-old reality star and business mogul, who recently completed her law degree, voiced her disapproval of the operations during an appearance at the DVF Awards in Venice where she was being honoured for her work on prison reform.
But Kim's comments haven't gone down well inside the White House, with a senior figure saying the mum-of-four is "misinformed and detached". It comes as rumours about Trump's health circulate online.

Speaking to Variety, Kim said: “In the news you hear: ‘Oh, it’s about people who have committed these crimes and they’re trying to help out our country.’ But then you hear about all of the people who have worked so hard to build our country, and so many people that are such a part of our country getting affected.
“People I know. People my friends know. You want to believe that there’s a powerful message in protection, but then you see that it’s not really happening like that.”
She added: “It’s really tough, but I think that we have to do what we can to protect the people that have really supported and built our country.”
Kardashian’s comments did not go down well with Homeland Security. Assistant Secretary Tricia McLaughlin told TMZ: “Ms. Kardashian is misinformed and detached from the very reality of the operations in Los Angeles she has decided to opine on.”
McLaughlin continued: “These are the violent criminals who Homeland Security, under President Trump and Secretary Noem’s leadership, have removed from Los Angeles’s streets: murderers, rapists, gang members and child pedophiles.”
She then asked pointedly: “Why does Ms. Kardashian continue to do the bidding of criminals at the expense of innocent Americans and brave law enforcement?”

The clash has followed a long stint of Kardashian being involved in prison reform advocacy, during which time she has pushed for clemency cases, campaigned for new legislation, and met with lawmakers across the political spectrum.
During Trump’s presidency, she personally lobbied the White House to pass the FIRST STEP Act, which was a bipartisan law that reformed sentencing guidelines and led to the early release of thousands of prisoners.
Kardashian has also been outspoken in her criticism of Trump’s immigration policies. In June, she posted a statement to her Instagram Story calling the raids in Los Angeles “inhumane”.
At the time, she wrote: “When we’re told that ICE exists to keep our country safe and remove violent criminals – great. But when we witness innocent, hardworking people being ripped from their families in inhumane ways, we have to speak up. We have to do what’s right.”
She added that immigrants are an essential part of American society, saying: “They are our neighbours, friends, classmates, coworkers, and family. No matter where you fall politically, it’s clear that our communities thrive because of the contributions of immigrants. There HAS to be a BETTER way.”
While some Americans praised her for speaking out, others accused her of virtue signalling because of her personal ties to the Trump family. Kardashian is known to be friendly with Ivanka Trump and has previously met both the former president and First Lady Melania Trump.
