Sex and the City's spin-off And Just Like That... is set to end after its third season, it has been announced. The HBO series, which revisits the lives of the beloved cast, still has a two-part finale yet to air.
Showrunner Michael Patrick King revealed he realised it would be the ending when he was writing the last episode. He explained on Instagram that "it became clear to me that this might be a wonderful place to stop".
Although the cast and crew were aware it would be the end of the show, named after lead character Carrie Bradshaw's signature saying, they held off announcing. King added that they "didn't want the word 'final' to overshadow the fun of watching the season". It comes after reports Meghan Markle and Prince Harry are set for new 'goldmine' offer - but could face issue.

And Just Like That was first aired in 2021, carrying on from the original series, with three of the four main characters reunited - Sarah Jessica Parker as Carrie Bradshaw was joined by Cynthia Nixon as Miranda Hobbes and Kristin Davis as Charlotte York. Samantha was played by Kim Cattrall, who opted not to join the new series, although she did have a brief cameo at the end of season two.
Sarah Jessica Parker, who has played Carrie since SATC's first episode in 1998 and was executive producer of the series, said the character "dominated my professional heartbeat for 27 years." But she now feels that that part of her life is "complete."
Parker's co-star, Kristin Davis, who plays Charlotte York, posted: "I am profoundly sad. I love our whole beautiful cast and crew. 400 artisans working so hard on our show with deep love. And to our loyal fans, we love you forever and ever."
Miranda Hobbs' actress, Cynthia Nixon, shared: "I can’t believe our wild beautiful And Just Like That ride is almost over. It has been such a delight from start to finish. I will miss working with these people everyday SO incredibly much but know we will always be a part of each other’s lives. Get ready for a lot more carousels in the weeks to come! And don’t miss these last few episodes: surprises in store!"
In a lengthy Instagram post, Parker wrote a tribute to her character. She penned: "She changed homes, time zones, boyfriends, her mind, her shoes, her hair, but never her love and devotion to New York City."
"She devoted herself to hats, books, shoes, friends and the promise of a new day in her beloved city and the people she treasured most. She has worn shame, pride, honor, optimism and literally countless dresses, skirts, tutus.
"Held onto hands, hopes and the very best of people. Miranda, Samantha and Charlotte, there will never be better friends and what great fortune for Carrie to come to know and love Seema and LTW, most divine new connections.
"Carrie Bradshaw has dominated my professional heartbeat for 27 years. I think I have loved her most of all. I know others have loved her just as I have. Been frustrated, condemned and rooted for her.

"The symphony of all those emotions has been the greatest soundtrack and most consequential companion. Therefore the most sentimental and profound gratitude and lifetime of debt. To you all.
"MPK and I together recognized, as we have in the past, this chapter complete. AJLT was all joy, adventure, the greatest kind of hard work alongside the most extraordinary talent of 380 that includes all the brilliant actors who joined us.
"I am better for every single day I spent with you. It will be forever before I forget. The whole thing. Thank you all."
She signed off: "I love you so. I hope you love these final two episodes as much as we all do. Rabbit rabbit. Xxx, SJ."
Sex and the City debuted in 1998, before running for six seasons until 2004. Two feature-length films were also released, one in 2008 and another in 2010.
