A top US Army commander has been suspended after a bizarre incident at a military base involving a picture of .
Photographs of President, vice president JD Vance and Defence Secretary Pete Hegseth were supposed to be displayed at the top of a gallery at Fort McCoy in Wisconsin, indicating their place at the top of the Army's command structure. But a photo posted on social media showed the framed pictures turned around, so that instead of the trio's faces, all that could be seen was a blank space.
It has since been revealed that Colonel Sheyla Baez Ramirez, who was Garrison Commander and responsible for the day-to-day operation at the base, has been suspended.

And on Sunday, the Defence Secretary retweeted a story about her demise. The social media post was written by Breitbart reporter Katrina Wong and it read: "Commander of Fort McCoy, whose base chain-of-command board was missing photos of Trump, Vance and Hegseth, has been SUSPENDED".

Confirming colonel Ramirez Fort McCoy's Senior Commander Major General Patrick Reinert made a statement, but did not link it to the gallery of photos, which he was early called an act of vandalism.
He said: "Col. Sheyla Baez Ramirez has been suspended as Garrison Commander at Fort McCoy. This suspension is not related to any misconduct. We have no further details to provide at this time while this matter is under review."
The Army Reserves statement added: "The Fort McCoy leadership team and the Army Reserve were unaware of the vandalism of the leadership board at a building at Fort McCoy, WI.

"Once it was brought to their attention, the leadership at Fort McCoy took immediate action to correct it."
Col Ramirez had been promoted to garrison commander in July of 2024 after serving as chief of the Army Reserves at Fort Belvoir in Virginia. It is not clear why she was suspended.
