William and Kate 'moving to gorgeous 8-bed home for fresh start' after cancer treatment

Prince William and Kate, Princess of Wales, are reportedly moving their family to a “forever home” in Windsor and they will be funding all renovations themselves.

The royals are said to be desperate for a fresh start after a challenging period at Adelaide Cottage following Kate and King Charles' cancer diagnosis, and the death of the Queen. They will move to Forest Lodge, in the very heart of Windsor Great Park, in the coming months - at no cost to the taxpayer.

The stunning eight-bedroom property is a far cry from the home the Walesesmoved into three years ago. The four-bedroom pad is fairly modest by royal standards and they have been quietly on the lookout for alternatives. It comes after claims Prince Harry 'admits he is still part of the Royal Family and finally sees sense'.

Kate has already been seen picking new furniture for the property, including a 24-seater table. But the family are reportedly not going to have live-in staff.

Adelaide Cottage is a fraction of the size of the Wales family's former full-time - a palatial apartment in Kensington Palace and they want a bigger place for kids George, Charlotte and Louis.

“Windsor has become their home - However, over the last few years while they have lived at Adelaide Cottage there have been some really difficult times," a source told The Sun.

“Moving gives them an opportunity for a fresh start and a new chapter; an opportunity to leave some of the more unhappy memories behind. This is a move for the long-term. They see it as their forever home.”

It appears as though the favourite location was Fort Belvedere, a stunning gothic revival mansion in Windsor Great Park. They will actual move to a pad less than a mile away.

Previously it has also been suggested that the Waleses could have a larger base through an annex building by Adelaide Cottage which would avoid them having to move.

"Nobody knows that there is quite a spacious red-brick annex building that's not being used next door to Adelaide Cottage. It's currently inhabitable and needs extensive renovation works if it were to be used," a source told the Express.

"Discussions have been ongoing for a while about using the property as part of the overall cottage grounds, but it's just about finding the right time to kick the project off."

Kate has been gradually returning to public duties following her cancer diagnosis and chemotherapy treatment and it is understood that she is trying to find the right balance.

Kate announced in January she was now in remission and focussed on healing, while the King is still undergoing weekly treatment for the disease. Before she made her first public appearance after her diagnosis at Trooping the Colour last year, she revealed how she was "taking each day as it comes".

Speaking at the time, she said: "As anyone going through chemotherapy will know, there are good days and bad days. I am learning how to be patient, especially with uncertainty."
