Too Good To Go is a great app where you can save waste while also benefitting from plenty of tasty items. The things they give are often freezable or, you can eat them there and then depending on the outlet you purchase from.

First up in the overflowing box of goodies were "two packs of honey roast ham" and "breaded ham".
There was a mac and cheese ready meal, a spaghetti bolognese ready meal, six packs of apple crumble, grapes, carrot and suede mash, two bags of mixed salad, two packs of mini potatoes, four Nutoka flavour pancakes, a ham and pineapple pizza, three packets of corned beef, individually wrapped mini cheese, two squeezy yoghurts, and some loose peppers, apples, and onions.
The women were "amazed" at what they'd managed to pick up for such a small price point, saying that they were really impressed by what they'd picked up.
"This is phenomenal," Caroline gushed as the camera panned over the gigantic pile of food, which they said they were going to "freeze" a lot of.
In the comments, someone asked: "How do you get these?" Another replied: "Download the Too Good To Go app. Select your town/postcode and how far you’re willing to travel. It shows which shops, cafes, restaurants are taking part".
Caroline did admit in the comments, however, that it can be "very hit and miss" with what you get. Someone wrote: "No way did you get all of this. I got 17 green peppers, green beans and some potatoes". She replied: "Yeah, it is very hit-and-miss, unfortunately. I have had some bad ones, too".
Another commenter accused her of "throwing it all away tomorrow" because of the dates, but Caroline responded: "Nope. Froze a lot. What we didn’t like we gave to my mam. No waste here".
Others praised the app, sharing: "That's amazing; even if you do not get the most useful bits, it's not too much money wasted".
Somebody complained: "When I did an one, they wanted to give me a bag full of parsnips," but a woman defended parsnips, sharing: "I love parsnips, and they freeze well. I lived on reduced parsnips at uni and had them instead of chips, crisps, potatoes".
Why is it important to tackle food waste?
Tackling food waste is important for several reasons. It has significant environmental, economic, and social implications that impact both present and future generations.
On an environmental level, food waste contributes to climate change as rotting food in landfills releases methane, a potent greenhouse gas. Furthermore, it squanders the water, energy, land, and other resources used in food production, creating unnecessary environmental degradation.
Economically, food waste represents a massive loss of resources and financial investment across the entire supply chain, from farmers and producers to consumers and governments. Socially, it raises ethical concerns, as millions of people worldwide suffer from food insecurity while perfectly good food goes to waste.
Addressing food waste promotes sustainability, reduces resource inefficiencies, and contributes to global efforts to combat hunger and protect natural ecosystems. By tackling food waste, societies can build more resilient food systems and work toward a healthier and more equitable planet.
