The plane suffered a fuel leak, prompting the crew to inform the nearby Varanasi Airport and request permission to land. The IndiGo flight was carrying a total of 166 passengers and crew.

The passengers will be sent to Srinagar by another plane
IndiGo flight 6E-6961 experienced a problem. The airline stated that arrangements were being made to send passengers to Srinagar on another flight. The plane experienced a fuel leak while in flight. After contacting Air Traffic Control (ATC) Varanasi, the pilot landed the plane safely on the runway at 4:10 pm.
Last month, an Indigo flight from Lucknow to Delhi experienced a technical problem, forcing an emergency landing before takeoff. The plane was carrying 151 passengers, including SP chief Akhilesh Yadav's wife, Dimple Yadav. Indigo flight 6E-2111, scheduled to fly on the Lucknow-Delhi route, stalled just before takeoff. Despite speeding down the runway, the plane failed to take off.
