Today marks the seventh death anniversary of former Prime Minister Atal Bihari Vajpayee, one of India’s most revered leaders. On this solemn occasion, tributes poured in from across the nation, with top leaders and citizens recalling Vajpayee’s immense contributions to India’s development and global stature.
At the memorial site ‘Sadaiv Atal’ in Delhi, President Draupadi Murmu, Prime Minister Narendra Modi, Defence Minister Rajnath Singh, BJP President JP Nadda, Kiren Rijiju, Gajendra Singh Shekhawat, JDU leader Sanjay Jha, and Delhi Chief Minister Rekha Gupta were among those who offered floral tributes, honoring Vajpayee’s legacy.
PM Modi, in his tribute on social media, wrote:
“Remembering Atal ji on his death anniversary. His dedication to the country’s progress and spirit of service will continue to inspire us all to build a developed and self-reliant India.”
Defence Minister Rajnath Singh called Vajpayee a leader who worked tirelessly to build a strong and prosperous nation, and affirmed that India will always remember him for his unparalleled contribution.

Born in Gwalior in 1924, Vajpayee was the first BJP leader to become India’s Prime Minister and the first non-Congress leader to complete a full term in office. He served as Prime Minister thrice and also held the Foreign Minister portfolio. Atal Bihari Vajpayee breathed his last on August 16, 2018, at AIIMS, Delhi. The nation remains indebted to his tireless service and vision for India’s progress.
