Fulham have emerged as surprise contenders to sign Manchester United striker Rasmus Hojlund this summer as Marco Silva prepares to replace Rodrigo Muniz, according to reports. AC Milan are thought to be at the forefront of interest in Hojlund ahead of the deadline, but Fulham could offer him a Premier League stay.
Ruben Amorim has made it clear that the 22-year-old striker does not feature in his plans for the season ahead after focusing his summer business on forming a new-look attack. United have splurged over £200million to sign Matheus Cunha from Wolves, Brentford's Bryan Mbeumo and RB Leipzig striker Benjamin Sesko.
Amorim strongly indicated his plans by leaving Hojlund on the bench in the Red Devils' final pre-season friendly against Fiorentina at Old Trafford.
He also featured for just 18 minutes in the final outing of the United States tour against Everton in Atlanta as Sesko's arrival grew closer.
Hojlund has been reluctant to give up on his dream of representing United after just two years, but there is a looming consensus that it is already over.
Milan are offering an attractive escape route, with talks over a £4m season-long loan plus a £39m option to buy continuing with Old Trafford chiefs.

However, Fulham could also enter the frame. According to the Daily Mail, the Cottagers are showing tentative interest in recruiting Hojlund before the deadline.
Atalanta are pursuing a deal for Muniz, leaving Silva searching the market for a potential replacement should his striker jet off to Italy.
The report adds that Fulham would want assurances that Hojlund is keen to move to Craven Cottage before formalising their interest.
However, if the Denmark international is to leave United this summer, Milan would likely represent a more appealing destination than another Premier League club.

Hojlund is one of multiple players whom the Red Devils are actively trying to offload before the summer deadline.
Jadon Sancho has been the subject of a £20m bid from AS Roma, while Chelsea are in talks over a deal for Alejandro Garnacho.
Real Betis are attempting to re-sign Antony after a successful loan last season, but they face a struggle to meet United's financial demands.
Tyrell Malacia joins Sancho, Garnacho and Antony in training away from Amorim's squad and is also expected to depart.
