A TV and film enthusiast has dubbed a police drama as the 'most addictive' series on Netflix, urging everyone to give it a watch.

EccyReviews, who uses his TikTok platform to share insights about the'best' shows and films across various streaming platforms, has shared his views on Mare of Easttown.

The 2021 limited series, created by Brad Ingelsby and featuring Kate Winslet, Julianne Nicholson and Jean Smart, follows the life of a small-town police detective trying to balance her professional and personal lives whilst investigating the death of a teenage mother.

The plot reads: "A young woman is murdered in a small Pennsylvania town. Detective Sergeant Mare Sheehan, a highly skilled crime investigator, is on the case. Having spent her entire life in Easttown, she knows everyone in it. However, her life is dark and troubled, largely due to the recent death of her son."

EccyReviews commented on the series, stating: "If you only watch one limited series this year, it has to be this one.

The reviewer added: "It is not only the most gripping limited series I have ever watched but it genuinely might be the best.

"I genuinely couldn't stop myself from binge watching it that I stayed up until 2am watching the entire thing - trust me, I absolutely loved it."

He continues to laud the casting and performances, declaring it a "must-watch" at present, despite its release four years ago.

One fan commented on his video: "Excellent series." Another chimed in: "Mare of Easttown is unbelievable. God tier show."

A third viewer remarked: "Watched this following your recommendation. loved it." Yet another added: "It's a top limited series!".

Sharing their thoughts on IMDb, one viewer was impressed by the authenticity: "The fact that a Brit mastered the very isolated DelCo accent is incredibly impressive. A very small percentage of Philly suburbanites have that accent and she delivered beautifully."

They continued: "Now onto the actual storyline. It's meticulously crafted and the characters are so well developed you feel as though you're watching your next door neighbour play a part in a TV show.

"It doesn't scream Hollywood, which gives it such a real feel that you almost forget you're watching a show and not a documentary.

"The plot was not exaggerated nor was predictable. I enjoyed every minute. This is a job well done."

Another viewer enthused: "I can't believe how much I enjoyed Mare of Easttown. It's about a small town Pennsylvania homicide detective whose life falls apart around her as she investigates murders.

"She's also a home town basketball hero so the entire town knows her. Even though it's gotten great reviews and has been nominated for just about every award I was still hesitant about watching it.

"I was wrong. It was fantastic! The writing and acting (especially Kate Winslet) are some of the best of the year.

"The twists and turns will keep you at the edge of your seat and guessing what's going to happen next.

"All the hype surrounding this show is much deserved. If you haven't seen it yet give it a chance, you won't be disappointed!".
