Newcastle have reportedly been in touch with Chelsea over the past few days regarding a potential transfer for striker Nicolas Jackson. The Magpies are eager to bolster their attacking line-up before the transfer window closes, irrespective of the ongoing saga involving Alexander Isak.
The Swedish international is currently training solo as he seeks a move to Liverpool. He has been the subject of a £110million bid from the Reds this summer, which was rejected by Newcastle.
He has since released a statement mentioning 'broken promises'. With Isak currently unavailable and Callum Wilson having departed the club at the end of his contract this summer, Anthony Gordon has begun the season as Newcastle's primary option up front.
Manager Eddie Howe is keen to bring in at least one new striker before the transfer window shuts. Several players have been linked with a move to the club, the latest being Jackson.
Transfer expert Fabrizio Romano has now given an update on a possible move for the Senegal international, who is 'definitely set' to depart Chelsea this window. Romano reports that both Newcastle and German heavyweights Bayern Munich have 'called' Chelsea in recent days to ask about a possible transfer.

Aston Villa are also in the running, with the club pushing for a transfer that would reunite Jackson with former manager Unai Emery.
The cost of such a deal remains undisclosed, but previous reports suggest that Chelsea are seeking around £60m. It has also been suggested that the Blues might be open to a loan agreement with an obligation or option to purchase at the end, although they would demand a substantial loan fee for this to occur.
Jackson has been a part of Chelsea for two years, having transferred from Villarreal in the summer of 2023. During that time, he has netted 30 goals in 81 appearances across all competitions, contributing to their victories in the UEFA Conference League and the Club World Cup last season.
