customers can pick up the Digital Edition for less than £300, despite Sony's newly announced price hike. Over the weekend, Sony announced plans to increase the price of the 5 Digital by £40. Beginning today (April 14), the PS5 Digtal console will increase from £389.99 to £429.99 in the UK. The price will also increase in Europe and Australia.

Needless to say, Argos customers are rushing to take advantage of the lower price point.
Clicking on the PS5 Digital Edition page shows that the console is "in-demand", having been added to hundreds of baskets in the last 24 hours.
It's also the number three best-seller in the entire PlayStation 5 category, which includes games and accessories.
It's unclear when Argos will increase the price of the PS5 Digital Edition, so you may need to hurry before the new prices come into play.
According to a post on the PlayStation Blog, Sony is increasing the prices due to high inflation and fluctuating exchange rates.
"With a backdrop of a challenging economic environment, including high inflation and fluctuating exchange rates, SIE has made the tough decision to raise the recommended retail price (RRP) of the PlayStation 5 console in select markets in Europe, Middle East and Africa (EMEA), Australia and New Zealand," the post reads.
Fortunately, however, Sony has confirmed that prices for the Standard PS5 console with built-in disc drive and PS5 Pro will stay the same.
In fact, the PS5 Disc Drive attachment will actually be reduced in price to £69.99 from April 14.
Interestingly, , but is still showing at the original £99.99 price point.
The news comes just days after Sony announced plans to in selected regions.
Customers in 15 Latin American countries and Southeast Asia will be asked to pay more for PS Plus memberships in the coming weeks.
