NEW DELHI: Two wagons of a goods train derailed while entering Belagavi Railway Station on Tuesday morning, disrupting train services on the route, railway authorities said. No casualties or injuries were reported, they added.
The freight train derailed near the Military Mahadev Temple along Congress Road in Belagavi whilst en route to Miraj, Maharashtra.
South Western Railway deployed a rescue train from Hubballi to the incident site to facilitate swift recovery operations, according to their official statement.
The railway authorities have ensured proper arrangements for stranded passengers at various stations affected by the disruption.
The statement indicated that "The SWR General Manager and other senior officers are closely monitoring the situation and restoration is under progress. Any change in train services further will be notified."
The railway police from Belagavi have arrived at the location to conduct their investigation into the incident.
