JAIPUR: The Enforcement Directorate (ED) on Tuesday carried out a surprise raid at the residence of senior Congress leader and former Rajasthan minister Pratap Singh Khachariyawas in Jaipur’s Civil Lines area.

The sudden action by the central agency created a stir in the political circles of the state, with Congress leaders sharply reacting to what they termed a "politically motivated" move.

As ED officials continued their search operations inside the house, Khachariyawas stepped outside briefly to speak to the media, making it clear that he would fully cooperate with the agency.

"They are doing their job, and I will do mine. I have nothing to hide," he said.

The Congress leader, who held key portfolios in the previous Ashok Gehlot-led government, said no prior notice had been issued to him.

"ED officials reached my house directly. I was not informed in advance. But I am not afraid. Let them investigate everything thoroughly."

Khachariyawas also accused the BJP of misusing central agencies to target political rivals.

"Governments come and go. One day Rahul Gandhi will come to power and then the BJP will know how it feels. If they can initiate action against us, we will also not hold back when our time comes," he said, warning the ruling party of similar treatment in the future.
