Two kayakers among eight rescued over last weekend

Calangute/Panaji: Two kayakers from Karwar and Bengaluru were rescued by Drishti Marine after their kayaks capsized off Palolem beach. Lifeguard Parashuram Tari quickly used a jet ski to rescue them and brought them safely to shore.
At Agonda, a rogue wave swept two Israeli children, aged eight and five, from their mother’s grasp and pulled them out to the sea. Drishti lifesaver Dinesh Velip swam 30m with a rescue tube to bring them to safety.
At Calangute beach, a 17-year-old from Delhi is suspected to have fractured his leg after losing balance. Lifesavers Vinod and Chandangiri rescued him using a spine board and gave first aid.
Meanwhile, at Anjuna, two non-swimmers from Chandigarh panicked after wading 25m into deep water and had to be rescued. Lifeguards carried out three double rescues along the coast and reunited several missing children. A five-year-old from Uttar Pradesh, who wandered off at Baga beach, was returned to his parents after verification.

At Mandrem, two Russian women in their sixties were caught in a current and rescued by three lifeguards.
