Jaipur: Two juveniles were detained Sunday in connection with the murder of a young man at a roadside eatery near Bijalpur village in Karauli district two days ago.
The killing, which took place on April 10, was reportedly the result of a long-standing personal rivalry. Karauli police recovered a country-made firearm, a live cartridge, a spent cartridge, and the motorcycle used in the crime.
According to SP Brijesh Jyoti Upadhyay, the incident came to light when Kailash Chand Meena, a resident of Bijalpur, filed a report stating that he was in the fields with his son Gyan Singh, threshing wheat. As they were filling grain into sacks, Gyan Singh received a phone call and told his father he needed to step out briefly. He then left the field.
Gyan Singh later went to a dhaba near the village bus stand, owned by Mukesh, where several others, including Ashok, Akshay, Rameshwar, Brijmohan, and Amritlal, were also present. Around 7 to 7.30pm, two people arrived on a motorcycle and shot Gyan Singh on the left side of his head, fleeing the spot immediately. Kudgaon police registered a case following the complaint.
With support from Karauli's cyber cell and coordinated efforts across locations, police traced and detained the juveniles involved in the murder. They were presented before the Juvenile Justice Board and sent to the child observation home in Karauli Sunday.
Police said the murder was carried out due to a personal rivalry between two groups in the village. The investigation is ongoing to determine if more people were involved in planning or executing the crime.
