Samantha Ruth Prabhu is now donning the producer’s hat with her maiden production venture backing the upcoming Telugu horror-comedy Subham. The actress, along with the cast, is actively promoting the movie. During a recent promotional event, Samantha revealed that revisiting her early performances in films makes her feel embarrassed.
While interacting with the crowd at the SV Group of Institutions in Nellore, Andhra Pradesh, Samantha said,
“If I watch my first two movies now, I feel embarrassed and wonder why I gave such a horrible performance. But in Subham, seeing these young kids in their first few films, I feel proud of this project.”
Subham, helmed by director Praveen Kandregula, showcases a talented line-up of fresh faces, including Harshith Reddy, Gavireddy Srinivas, Charan Peri, Shriya Kontham, Shravani Lakshmi, Shalini Kondepudi, and Vamshidhar Goud.

The official teaser for the film recently stirred the internet with its unique approach. Samantha also shared the video through her social media handles. The storyline centres around a newlywed couple whose wedding night takes an unexpected turn when the bride becomes oddly obsessed with a television show—setting the stage for some quirky, spooky moments. The horror-comedy blend has already won hearts.
Samantha expressed her excitement about venturing into new territory: “This is a step forward. I’ve been acting for the past 14–15 years, and now production is a new challenge—and I enjoy taking up challenges,” she shared.
Subham is slated for a theatrical release on May 9.
On the work front, Samantha was last seen in Raj & DK’s Citadel: Honey Bunny, which also starred Varun Dhawan. She will collaborate with the duo again for Rakht Brahmand.
