Ed Kelce shares heartbreaking news on Facebook

On August 2, Kansas City Chiefs star tight end Travis Kelce ’s father, Ed Kelce , shared an obituary for Maureen Anne Maguire on his Facebook account. The obituary had vital moments of Ed with Maureen – “In recent years, she spent treasured time in Cape May with her family, enjoying peaceful days by the ocean.

She also grew an unexpected love for football later in life, sharing many laughs and adventures with her beloved friend Ed Kelce and her loyal dog Butch. Together they traveled often and attended football games and concerts, and embraced every opportunity to enjoy life to the fullest.”

Maureen Maguire, often referred to as Ed Kelce’s girlfriend, passed away peacefully at the age of 74, surrounded by her loved ones.

Fans offer condolences to Travis Kelce’s father, Ed Kelce, on Facebook“Sorry for your loss. Prayers for peace and comfort during this time,” offered one user. Another wrote, “So sorry, Ed. I’m sure you brought each other a lot of joy.” One more echoed, “So sorry, Ed. We’re sending our love and condolences.”

Another penned, “She sounded like the type of person that everyone needs in their Lives. Seems you guys made some amazing memories together. Hold them close, and keep your head up. So sorry for your loss. May she Rest in Peace.”

During Super Bowl LVIII, Ed Kelce was interviewed by Sam Farmer of the Los Angeles Times. Maureen Maguire had accompanied him to Las Vegas for the finale between the Kansas City Chiefs and the San Francisco 49ers. Maguire met Travis Kelce’s girlfriend, Taylor Swift, then.

When Swift posed for a picture with Papa Kelce, she snuggled up to Ed. Maureen noticed it and said– “Hey! That’s my boyfriend.” Swift chuckled and struck a father-daughter pose.

“I met Taylor at Travis' house. When Travis has a lot of friends coming into town to go to the game, everyone meets at his house–although he’s not there. They have a shuttle that comes and picks everybody up and takes them to the game. At any given home game, you could end up with 20 people there.

And Taylor [Swift] comes in, walks in with a security guard, and I look at her–I had my girlfriend with me, and I mention to Maureen–Oh my god, I know this kid, but I don’t know what her name is–”

Maureen then told him, “You don’t know her? This is Taylor Swift, you idiot.”

Apart from Ed Kelce, Maureen is survived by three children from her previous marriage, six grandchildren, and her siblings.
