Facebook founder Mark Zuckerberg adds two more people to Meta board, one of them has served as deputy national security adviser to Donald Trump

Facebook parent company Meta has expanded its board with tech and finance leaders by electing Patrick Collison and Dina Powell McCormick , respectively. Their appointments take effect on April 15. Company founder and CEO, Mark Zuckerberg , highlighted the valuable contributions the new board members will bring.

“Patrick and Dina bring a lot of experience supporting businesses and entrepreneurs to our board,” Zuckerberg said on the announcement.

“Patrick is deeply committed to expanding economic opportunity, and Dina has a long career advocating for economic development and supporting entrepreneurs. Their perspective will be extremely valuable to businesses that rely on our services to grow,” he added.

Who are Patrick Collison and Dina Powell McCormick
Patrick Collison is the co-founder and CEO of Stripe, a technology company specialising in programmable financial services, expressed his enthusiasm for joining Meta's board.

“Between WhatsApp, Instagram and Facebook, Meta is one of the internet’s most important platforms for businesses,” Collison said on the appointment.

“I look forward to helping them navigate the abundant opportunities of the coming years,” he added.

Collison, who founded Stripe with his brother John Collison in 2010, is also a co-founder of the Arc Institute, a biomedical research institution focused on pioneering new models for basic research.

Meanwhile, Dina Powell McCormick, currently vice chair, president and head of global client services at BDT & MSD Partners, also shared her excitement about her new role. McCormick brings over 25 years of experience at the highest levels of finance and US government.

“I’m excited to bring my experience in finance, government and economic development to support the people and entrepreneurs who use Meta’s services,” she said.

Her career includes 16 years in senior leadership positions at Goldman Sachs, where she served on the management committee, led the firm's Global Sovereign investment banking business, and spearheaded major economic development initiatives such as 10,000 Women, 10,000 Small Businesses, and One Million Black Women.

Additionally, McCormick has served two US presidents, holding positions as Deputy National Security Advisor to President Donald J. Trump and Assistant to the President for Presidential Personnel and Senior White House Advisor. Under President George W. Bush, she served as Assistant Secretary of State for Secretary of State Condoleezza Rice.

McCormick is also a New York Times best-selling author, having co-written "Who Believed in You, the Power of Transformative Mentorship" with her husband, United States Senator from Pennsylvania David McCormick.
