ERODE : A lightning strike killed two cows near Ammapettai in Erode district on Friday night.
Ammapettai and surrounding areas received moderate rain accompanied by lightning and strong winds on Friday night. Around 9pm, a lightning struck, killing two of the five cows belonging to P Murugesan, 63, of Manakkadu Thottam area.
Murugesan said he suffered a loss of Rs 1 lakh due to the deaths of the cows.
Poonatchi village administrative officer (VAO) V Tamilarasu, who visited the spot, said, “Thankfully, no one was near the cows when the lightning struck. So, there was no human casualty."
